What Receipt Sorted is

Receipt Sorted lets a household (or a small business, with its optional business tools) photograph or upload receipts, have the vendor, date, amount, and category read off them automatically, log mileage, and generate weekly, monthly, and year-to-date reports. It’s a record-keeping tool.

Not tax, accounting, or legal advice

Receipt Sorted helps you organize records — it doesn’t prepare, file, or review your taxes, and nothing in the app is tax, accounting, or legal advice. The vendor, date, amount, and category on each receipt are read by an AI model and can occasionally be wrong; every field stays editable so you can fix it, and anything the model wasn’t confident about is flagged for you to check. You’re responsible for reviewing your reports for accuracy before relying on them — for a tax filing, a reimbursement, or anything else. If your finances are complex, talk to a licensed tax preparer or accountant.

Your account

• You need to be at least 18 to create an account or subscribe.
• Sign-in is by email link, not a password. If someone else gets access to your email, they can get into your account — keep it secure.
• A 4-digit PIN is meant for a shared device inside a household you already trust (a phone or tablet at home), not as a substitute for account security. Don’t use it on a device other people outside your household can access.
• An admin controls who’s in the household, their role, and what they can see. You’re responsible for who you invite and what access you give them.

Free trial, subscriptions, and billing

• New households get a 10-day free trial. No card is required to start it.
• After the trial, keeping access requires a paid plan — currently $6/month or $48/year, billed through Stripe. Prices shown in the app are current at the time you subscribe.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing page; canceling stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
• If a payment fails, we’ll try again automatically and give you a week to fix it before the household is locked. Nothing is deleted — you pick up where you left off once billing is current.
• Payments generally aren’t refunded for a partial period. If something’s gone wrong on our end, email us — we’ll make it right.

Your content

You own your receipts, photos, and the data you enter. You’re giving us permission to store it and process it (including sending receipt photos to our AI provider to read them, as described in the Privacy Policy) for the sole purpose of running Receipt Sorted for you. We don’t use your content for anything else, and we don’t sell it.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Receipt Sorted to:

• Upload anything that isn’t yours to upload, or that’s illegal, fraudulent, or infringing.
• Try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the app, or access another household’s data.
• Resell or white-label the service without our written OK.

We can suspend or close an account that violates this, with notice where that’s practical.

Service availability

We run this on other companies’ infrastructure (Vercel, Supabase, Anthropic, Stripe, Resend) and can’t promise it’s never down. We’ll fix problems as fast as we reasonably can, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted access.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Receipt Sorted is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost profits, a missed deduction, a tax penalty — arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.

Ending your account

You can stop using Receipt Sorted, and cancel your subscription, any time. To have your household’s data deleted entirely, email us — see the Privacy Policy for how that works. We can suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms or nonpayment.

Changes

We can update these terms as the product changes. We’ll update the date at the top, and for a change that meaningfully affects you, we’ll email the account holders on record. Continuing to use Receipt Sorted after a change takes effect means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
